Police Information Checks (PIC)
Welcome to the West Vancouver Police Department's online Police Information Check (PIC) application process. This system allows you to apply for a Police Information Check or Police Information Check with the Vulnerable Sector 24 hours a day without having to attend our office.
All aspects of the process, including Electronic Identification Verification (EIV) of your identification and fee payment, are handled electronically. If there are no concerns, follow-up or fingerprints required, your official certified, embossed results letter will be mailed to you.
On-line applications may not be suitable for everyone. Please review all the information carefully to determine if an on-line Police Information Check is the right choice for you. Fees are non-refundable and can’t be exchanged for something else.
Please note that West Vancouver Police will return the results letter by mail to the applicant’s declared West Vancouver address only. We will not under any circumstances mail the results to a secondary address or a third-party organization or employer.
This on-line process is for current West Vancouver residents only. Applications with an IP address outside of Canada will not be accepted. Police Information Checks are valid for employment and volunteer opportunities and licensing within Canada only.
Police Information Check fees are non-refundable.
- You must currently live in West Vancouver to apply. Making a false statement such as declaring a local address at which you do not currently reside will result in the discontinuation of the application processing and the forfeiture of all fees paid.
- Your Police Information Check results is only valid in Canada and must be staying in Canada.
- You cannot apply on behalf of another person. EIV questions will be based on the applicant’s personal credit file and questions are timed to enhance security and privacy.
- Applications that fail the EIV online or are incomplete will receive an email providing further instructions and will remain in the processing queue for thirty (30) days from the time of the initial application. Incomplete applications will be considered abandoned and removed from the processing queue after thirty (30) days. Fees are non-refundable.
NOTE: we do not recommend that you use the online system if you:
- Have lived in Canada for less than one (1) year, and/or;
- Are under the age of eighteen (18) years, and/or;
- Have no established personal credit history to authenticate your ID using EIV.
Please be aware of these requirements before creating an account. If you fail to authenticate your identity, you will receive further instructions by email.
If you are seeking a ‘Local Police Records Check’ as part of the Record Suspension (Pardon) application process, do not use the on-line Police Information Check service as it is not appropriate for this purpose.
