The first level of screening is the basic one, the Criminal Records Check or CRC.
This check is intended for applicants who are being considered as volunteers or employees in an environment not involving the vulnerable sector. This would be most appropriate for immigration purposes, office, factory or retail jobs. It includes criminal convictions across Canada, for which fingerprints were taken.
There may be other criminal convictions for which fingerprints were not taken. This information, if present, only resides in the files of the police service that laid the charge.
This check is not intended for applicants who are seeking volunteer or employment positions working with vulnerable persons.
