Types of Police Information Checks
There are two types of police information checks (PIC and PIC VS). Because you require a police information check for an eligible volunteer position under the Volunteer Alberta, Volunteer Screening Program, the type of check you will be applying for is a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (PIC VS)
This check is restricted to applicants in a position of trust or authority relative to vulnerable persons. If your application is being used outside of Canada, we are unable to process a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (VS). It is the police service that verifies that the position meets the requirements for a VS check.
You can only apply for a PIC VS if you live in the City of Lacombe.
When applying for a PIC VS you do not need to apply for a PIC for the same position, as the PIC VS includes both the PIC and the VS.
